FAQ

For individual climbers, no experience or booking is necessary! As part of your first visit, our staff will guide you through how to set up on our autobelay walls and use the bouldering area.

The is no minimum or maximum age for climbing! Adult supervision is required for all participants under the age of 14 at a 2 child:1 adult ratio

Membership isn’t needed during our public hours

We offer harness and climbing shoe rentals for indoors, and offer crash pad rentals for outdoors!

Lead ropes and belay devices (GriGris and ATCs) are available for rent once you’re certified to use them!

On your first visit we’ll show you how to set up on our autobelay walls and use the bouldering area. Additional skills such as belaying and lead climbing are available to be learned through course offerings.

We have multiple autobelays that rotate through various walls in the gym, making sure you always have something fresh to climb!

Belaying is managing the rope safety systems for another climber. This skill is needed to access our Top Rope climbing areas. If you already know how to belay, you can challenge our belay test, otherwise we offer courses on how to belay multiple times per week.

East Peak only allows Petzl GriGri and tube-style belay devices.

To Lead Climb you must already be Top Rope certified at East Peak – Lead Tests must be booked in advance, or you can book into one of our Lead Courses which run every second week.

We do not allow anyone other than East Peak employees to provide instruction within the gym.

Memberships give you access to members-only climbing times, discounts on courses, and EFT members additionally get 1 free guest pass per month and retail discounts!

The bouldering area is 15′ tall, with some of our introductory climbs ending well below the top.

Our roped walls range from 35-50′ in height with a mixture of Autobelays, Top Ropes and Lead Climbs throughout the gym.

Prepaid Membership

  • Great for those who are just getting started and aren’t sure how long they’ll stay a member.
  • Good option for climbers from away who are on a longer visit to Halifax and want to climb regularly.

EFT Membership

  • Perfect for the climber who is climbing more than once a week.
  • Ideal for those who are committed to at least 6 months.

10-Punch Pass

  • Great for the climber who does not know how frequently they will be able to climb.
  • Punch passes do not expire and are transferable.
  • Students must show valid student ID for student punch pass rates.

Day Pass

  • A day pass is good for the entire day, so you are more than welcome to leave and come back!
  • Day Pass rates do not include rental gear. Rentals are available as an add-on.
  • Unlimited access to bouldering and auto belays. No access to top rope unless belay certified or accompanied by a belayer.
  • We do not sell day passes within one hour of closing and do not provide a prorated amount based on time of day.
  • Students must show valid student ID for student day pass rates.

  • Unlimited access to bouldering and auto belays. No access to top rope unless belay certified or accompanied by a belayer.
  • Only available your first time at the gym.
